Episode 3: Winding Down Your School Year
It’s nearly summer. Your personal calendar has a countdown to your last duty day. On your whiteboard is a countdown to the students’ last day. You may be telling yourself, “15 more wake-ups” or “Five more Mondays.” We get it. We’ve been there, too. A lot.
It’s hard to motivate yourself to do anything in the final weeks of school. You’re in survival mode, just trying to keep it together until you get those grades submitted. You’re stressed about the number of failing students you have, worried you’re not going to finish your novel unit before the librarian calls back all the books. We get it. We’ve been there, too. A lot.
It can be hard to think about taking care of your current self during this time, so you’d be forgiven for having completely forgotten about your future self. But hear us out. As fellow end-of-year strugglers (we have been recipients of duty day phone calls from our registrar wanting to know when–for the third time today–we will be hitting submit on those final semester grades), we’re going to ask you to step away from your current crisis mode and do a few things for your future self.
Before you check out in the main office on that duty day, we encourage you to give your future, late-summer-self, a big helping hand by completing a few (totally easy) steps. Future you is already super thankful. We know. We talked to her.
