Episode 28: Teachers Under Pressure: Semester Grades
Grades. Pressure. Anxiety. For us, these three words were inextricably linked with the end of the semester, and the months of December and May for years. We started to feel the nasty pangs in late November/April and by mid-December/May, we were complete wrecks! We were often far more upset about the state of a student’s grade than they were themselves. In this episode, we’re responding to a teacher who is feeling under pressure to “fix her grades” (as though they are “hers” and can be “fixed”) in the last weeks of the semester. Having been there ourselves a fair few times, we’re sharing some tips for how to deal with the situation and still feel like a good teacher. If this has been you, too, we hope you’ll join us. If you’re just curious about how stressful a topic grades can be for a teacher, we hope you’ll join us.
