You’re tired of running on empty.
We create high-quality resources for teachers who want to engage their students with practical, rigorous coursework, but who no longer want to sacrifice self-care, time with family and friends, or instructional time to create it.

We’ve all had reluctant students. I was a reluctant teacher. After graduating from California State University, Long Beach with a BA in English with an Emphasis in Education, I took a semester off to decide whether I wanted to give teaching a try. Try I did, becoming a high school English teacher in 2004. Having dreaded high school myself, I hoped to make a positive impact on students and remind them they are not alone.
I taught all grade levels and courses, including AP English Literature and Composition. I spent time as a department chair, member of curriculum and writing committees and grading policy task forces, AP reader, and even wrote a few lessons for textbook publishers.
After 18 years in the classroom, I shifted my focus to teachers, helping them be successful in the classroom, experience productive collaboration, and take back control over the time they spend on work outside of working hours. When not designing curriculum, I spend my time with my husband, son, and two dogs, giving them the attention I so often sacrificed when I was working as a classroom teacher.

I wanted to be a teacher since I was little and writing lesson plans for the rows of stuffed animals eagerly waiting to do exactly what they were told. After getting my BA in English and Psychology from the University of Southern California, I got my teaching credential and MA in Teaching from the University of California, Irvine.
I worked at a public high school in Southern California for 15 years, teaching English to a diverse group of students at a variety of levels, including AP English Literature and Composition. In my time in the classroom, I also oversaw the school yearbook for seven years, served as English department chair for two years, helped lead a number of schoolwide projects, and helped write two exemplar units for the school district during the transition to the Common Core standards.
I am passionate about both reading and the need for teachers to have healthy lives outside of the classroom. When not writing curriculum, I can be found reading, setting personal Peloton records, enjoying outdoor walks on a nice day, and drinking lots and lots of coffee.
